KUALA LUMPUR, 10 Ogos (Hrkh) - Permatang Pasir milik PAS!

Ahmad Sahar mendapat 5,571 undi.

The battle of Permatang Pasir

After the massive street protest in Kuala Lumpur, BN and Pakatan Rakyat will shift their battlefield to Pematang Pasir, Penang. The by-election this time will tell us whether the return of Malay votes in Manik Urai, Kelantan was a false impression.

BN and Pakatan fiercely fought in the Manik Urai by-election, as well as the ISA protest last Saturday (1 August). With the hatred between the two parties, the Permatang Pasir by-election is expected to be a fierce confrontation, too. BN has been defeated in all the six by-elections in Peninsular Malaysia. In order to keep its prestige and public reliance, it will definitely give its very best. Permatang Pasir is a state seat within the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency represented by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The state seat is also the only seat of PAS in Penang. Pakatan will not allow BN to win.

The following paragraphs show the focus points of the by-election:

  1. The performance test for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over 100 days after he took the office. On his first 100th day (11 July), Najib made an announcement for 11 good news, including setting up a new trust fund, Amanah Saham 1Malaysia, with a maximum size of 10 billion units and a 20% toll discount for frequent users who pay toll 80 times a month or more via the Smart Tag or Touch ’n Go, effective 1 September. Subsequently, the targets set for the six national Key Result Areas (KRAs), including reducing crime rate, were announced. According to a poll, after he addressed the “One Malaysia” concept and committed to an open economy, his approval ratings among Malaysians have risen from 46% in May to 65%. The by-election will reflect the actual support of the people.
  2. The return of Malay votes? In Manik Urai, where 99% of voters are Malays, PAS won by only 65 votes while UMNO managed to gain 889 more votes this time. As for Permatang Pasir, 72% of voters are Malays; it can be used as an evaluation indicator for the direction of Malay voters. Would UMNO play the “racial card”, particularly in this special environment of Penang? Anwar may control over a certain degree of Malay votes. If Pas gains less votes than the votes it gained in the 8 March general elections, UMNO can be seen as gaining a moral victory.
  3. The impact of Teoh Beng Hock’s death. Teoh died on the 104th day after Najib took the office and his death triggered a lot of controversies. Would the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry and the inquest eliminate the doubts? Permatang Pasir has 25.7% Chinese voters and they are playing a key role. Whether DAP is able to continue controlling Chinese votes or MCA, which is on the verge of split, will gain? Is Gerakan able to restore its former glory in this by-election after suffering a great defeat in the last general elections?
  4. The performance assessment for Pakatan. The issues of forming the unity government with Umno, demolishing a pig abattoir in Kedah and internal struggle within Selangor Pakatan have reflected many internal problems of Pakatan. Would the public continue supporting Pakatan? The by-election in Penang would be a confidence indicator.

It is “an act of God” to have a by-election now as both the parties may get some messages from it and adjust their excessive political strategies.

I believe that Pakatan will once again gain a victory but only by gaining a major victory, it can extend the Pakatan and Anwar political myth. (By LIM SUE GOAN/Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/Sin Chew Daily)

EEEE..... BONGKAKNYA PEMIMPIN UMNO.......

MO MONEY $..... MO MONEY.....

Reported in the Star Online today was a devastating news to all Malaysian citizens particularly to the Sabahans. It was more devastated than the increase of H1N1 cases in Malaysia. Even when the death toll increased at 7 so far.

Star Online reported : Sabah assemblymen unanimously approved an approximately 66% increase in their monthly salaries , from RM 3,300 to RM 5,300. They also approved an increase of more than RM 1,000 for the Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers as well as for the State Assembly Speaker , assistant ministers and political secretaries.
The Bill was tabled by the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Radin Malleh, prompting the necessary moved was due to the higher cost of living.

While most of the people suffered income losses since the economic slow down early this year, with some of us sufferred as high as 15% pay cut . Not to mention thousands of people who loss their jobs and earnings, these Ministers somehow managed to walk their way out by increasing their own pay.

Are they naive or are they just simply don’t care ?? With the Hari Raya celebrated in two months time and other festives seasons around the corner, yet, this kind action was tabled and approved. Who dared to say otherwise when most of the assemblymen are from Barisan Nasional.

That’s why it is crucial to have check and balance in the government. Barisan Nasional won by a whopping majority in recent election. Barisan Nasional boasted with 59 out of 60 state seats in their bag for the 2008 general election. That is why, they can do whatever they like. Barisan Nasional will do whatever within their control to ensure and stay in power. They seem to be successful since we as ‘Rakyat’ allowed them to do so. While we are struggling to meet our own necessities, they happilly spent our income tax money.

Are we still not convinced with the mismanagement done by the Barisan Nasional state representatives all this while ?? Do we still want them to be our representative again in the state assembly?? Are we still not sure what to do come the next general election ??

Recent public survey done by the Home Minister Department regarding public safety clearly shown the dissatisfaction of Malaysian citizen on public safety. According to the Home Ministry’s website, 97% of 6678 respondents to its poll said they did not feel safe due to the high crime rate. More than half of the respondents formed this opinion because they or their family members were victims of crime while 36% of the respondents were influenced by news about crime. Regarding a question whether the government has done enough to ensure the safety of the people, 95% of 6155 respondents felt otherwise.

Recent incidents have also somehow tarnishing the reputation even more. The unsettled Kugan’s case and the infamous death of Teoh Beng Heong while in SPRM custody clearly shown that we as ‘Rakyat’ deserved full explanation from the government in charged. No more hiding behind the bush . No more so called ‘delayed statement’ as it will be observed as created and scripted by the authority before published.

To make thing worst , ‘Mat Rempits’ and snatched thieves seem to championing our street nowadays. Everyday we are chocked with sad stories, incidents of citizens being robbed, incidents of home brutality and murders , incidents of rapes and so on seem to be the top stories and highlights of daily news. Seems like the sales of daily newspaper also shot up due to these kind of stories.

What has government could offer? Home Minister’s Datuk Hishammuddin, said focus would be on how to reduce street crimes, especially those could cause people unsafe in certain places. “What we want to do now is to seriously go down to the ground and identify where these crimes are taking place. Then we will decide how best to tackle the problem in the nearest future”. ( Star Online )
Hah ! Is it enough ? New Minister with the same old excuses. No doubt that we as citizens are expected to lend our hands to curb crimes…But with the current economic issues and with more and more people suffered from income shortage due to the increased price of common household items , we need to direct our attentions to how to meet our ‘ ends meet’ first. So do the criminals. Most of them divert to such activities for additional incomes. Old days, most of the criminals were unemployed , nowadays , skilled workers and even blue collar workers opt to become criminals. Clearly that the current Government need to work fast and need to put full attention in raising our economy back to the right track. Not simply come up with more slogans and more slogans only.

Furthermore , not to forget , we need to go back to the fundamentals of all the problems….the lack of Islamic Practices in our governance. For example , no efforts being made to reduce alcoholic beverages in this country. We declared ourselves as one of the most influential Islamic country in the world. We boasted as one of the country succeeded to become the most developed Islamic Country in the world. BUT , more and more pubs opened at almost every new housing estates in this country. More and more Muslims women involved in vice nowadays. More and more Muslims women became GRO , practicing free sex. BUT , still HUDUD laws were joked around by our ministers, Islamic law were clearly neglected by our own Muslims reps. Is this so called Islamic country ?

ABANG HAMDAN DALAM KENANGAN..

Salam .. Du`at sekelian..

Alhamdulillah.... dapat jugak saya membuka lap top saya ni setelah beberapa hari tak menulis ... nak kata sibok..tak jugak ...nak kata tak sibuk .. pun tak jugak.. saya rasa memang sibuk lah dua tiga hari ni....

Wassalam..
